Over the Christmas break we sat down and made a plan for what science topics we wanted to cover in the second half of the year. Without hesitation both boys said Oceans! Over the last few years we have made several trips out to the West Coast of Canada , and since then we have slowly been building our collection of ocean themed picture and refrence books. Whenever we are studying a new topic, I always start with a rich selection of fiction and non fiction books and add in other resources as we go. I hope you enjoy this wide selection of picture books, and learn something new about the facinating underwater world. I will continue to add to my list as we discover more!

  1. Over and Under the Waves by Kate Messner

This book tells the facinating story of a Lighthouse Keeper and truly has the most stunning illustrations.

In addition to these books we have also been working our way through the Wind and Waves curriculum which is part of the Little Hearts and Hands Science series from The Good and The Beautiful. They have short engaging lessons told through stories that would be perfect for a more family style learning approach!
